No, of course I'm not ashamed of these ideas. The term "open source"
wasn't even coined until about 1998, and it misses the point entirely.
All I'm trying to say is that it's not as easy to pitch
free-as-in-freedom software to Joe Average as it is open source, because
people tend to care more about practical benefits, and above all, they
don't like change. Sad but true. BUT, I think people respond well to the
basic idea of sharing with others and being a good neighbor, and they
can learn that our software is made to facilitate that instead of
locking them into unfair relationships they don't want to be in. I
notice this is how rms prefers to pitch free software to the uninformed.
