That's not true. If it were, Firefox would be nonfree; the Mozilla trademark  
conditions do not allow use of the trademark in commercial distributions of  
the software. With a normal software license like the GNU GPL or MPL,  
trademarks can simply be removed if the trademark policy is no good. The  
Ubuntu Font License does not allow this.
