The release candidate images for the 4.5 release of Trisquel, "Slaine"
are ready for testing. Note that this images will become the final
release if no bugs are found. Minor bugs would be fixed via updates.

The files can be found at http://devel.trisquel.info/slaine/iso/

The full list of features will be published with the press note. The
final release date -if everything works well- would be tomorrow,
March 19th, as a salute to LibrePlanet 2011.

Current Trisquel 4.0 LTS can choose to keep using that release -which
will be supported until 2013- or upgrade to 4.5 using the update
manager. To make it prompt for this update, configure the "Software
Sources" program to show "Normal releases" instead of LTS releases.
The updater will not start showing the update as available until the
final release is done, but if you are impatient or want to help test
the upgrader, run this command (after changing the setting above)

update-manager -d

If you want to try this release by making a live USB drive, you can use
the included usb-creator app. Note that due to a change in the boot
manager, Trisquel 4.0 will need to have syslinux 4.x installed in order
to make a live USB drive from a 4.5 iso. Syslinux 4.x is now available
on Trisquel 4.0 as a regular update. Also, the images are now in
isohybrid format, so they can be dumped directly to the usb drive.

If you find a serious bug please contact with us to update the images
before the release. Minor bugs can be reported as usually to be fixed
via regular updates.

Users of NVIDIA cards will find that the 3D acceleration support was
removed since the beta images, because it is still experimental and
prone to make the system freeze while running games, or applications
like Gimp or OpenOffice.org. You can easily enable the 3D support with
this command:

sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental

Please someone translate this note into the other forum languages.
