O sea que compat-wireless tiene licencia libre aunque no necesariamente es
libre.

Revisé dentro del directorio drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath9k y hay unarchivo
que en su encabezado dice:

Lo cual implica que es libre pero no dice nada en los otros archivos ni en
toda la compilación que se hace al instalarlo. No soy experto en esto así
que no me atrevo a hacer una afirmación categórica y pido su apoyo.

Pero daña el sonido y además se cuelga el equipo. Por lo visto en foros de
Ubuntu, es por el ahorro de energía de la tarjeta inalámbrica o por el hecho
que se pone a dormir el disco duro mediante el BIOS. En el segundo caso se
arregla actualizando el BIOS. En mi caso no se resuelve moviendo el ratón
así que el mío es el primer caso, supongo.

Al usar compat-wireless y su driver ath9k con el actual núcleo no hay ningún
problema. Sería bueno analizar si inserta alguna cosa no libre. No se
hacerlo. De lo contrario podría hacerlo yo mismo.

Por cierto que intenté con todos los núcleos de Ali Gunduz y también compilé
mi propio núcleo 2.6.32 específico para el Atom de esta Toshiba NB200 con el
mismo resultado siguiendo sus instrucciones.
