[Freedom-misc] Why are Libreboot PCs and Replicant Androids so aging?

hardware that lends itself well to reuse and tinkering is aging. a few years  
ago, for the first time i without realising it, i purchased a laptop that  
didnt have a way to change the battery without opening the case.

i was pretty irritated about that. luckily, as opening the case to get at the  
battery goes, it was probably more painless than most models. worth noting, i  
would have not purchased it had i realised this.

oems are not gaining sympathy towards our type of use. they keep making  
devices that are increasingly disposable. i believe there will be a turning  
point, but not necessarily in the next 5-10 years. i used to have a lemote.
