I am in favor of clearing the air.
You are making doing so difficult because if I refer to actions you have
and which I believe are relevant you may say I am just trying to attack
I begin like this.
I have several times started posts which turned out to be against forum
rules. I got rightfully corrected. I acknowledge my mistakes and wrote
if I could I would delete my posts. Accepting my mistakes and writing
so had the result I wanted. The camels moved on.
I cannot recall I have been slanderous towards people.
If I make an argument and I do not accept the counter arguments I
get as valid, I do not step down. I do not necessarily shut up.
Maybe you think you do not dish out to others. You do,
sometimes maybe unknowingly.
I am not sure on which occasions I hurt you.
One time I made a post about how european law allows
you to modify a piece of software, even if prohibited by
the software's license, in order to get one piece of
software to work together with another piece of software.
I did so because some other posters were making
wrong claims about the subject.
Then you argued I was wrong. I knew I had investigated the
matter once before. Still I reinvestigated the matter briefly
and came to the conclusion I was right. I quickly
understood you were writing on a subject you were not
knowledgeable about. I repeated my point of view
and asked for legal books and decisions countering
my arguments. I did not get any.
I did not question your right to speak. I did stand on my
right to say you were wrong.
Later in a different thread a poster wrote something.
Maybe it was inaccurate, maybe not. I do not know
how to easily find the posts again, that is why I do
not display links.
I think the poster was a new member of the
The poster at one point said, he did not know about
the subject and it could be he was wrong.
Your reaction was to tell him, then he should not
write at all.
That did not go well with me. He was a new member.
He probably did his best. Then getting told to
shut up by a member who had done the same thing.
I think I rightfully stood up for another member. I
did not intend to hurt you. Please do not
stay away from this forum because of what I write.
It is your decision if you do not want to respond on my
posts. I want you to respond. But I would like to avoid
the roundabouts. I write something. You write up against it. I write
the same again. You write the same again.
About pocket. I assume you think I have not understood why you
and others have a problem with how pocket works? First
time you wrote, pocket requires non free software on the
server side, I understood. Do you understand, calmstorm
wrote if pocket is enabled your debian system is
non free? That, and the repository part,
is what I have been countering several times.
Had you and calmstorm written, if you install debian 9
main you get a free software system. Be aware that pocket
is part of firefox. The pocket server requires non free
software. Therefore we ask you not to install debian.
I would not have reacted. You had made no wrong
You are right. There is an element of absoluteness. There is absoluteness on
forum and I support it.
This forum did not teach me what free software is. This forum
taught me to be watchful. This forum makes you think about which software
is around you. If you get it wrong this forum will tell you firmly.
I know of no other forum which is able of doing so.
If you write a piece of software is free and it is not. You should be
If you write a piece of software is non free and it is free. You should
If you keep on lying about the license of a piece of software
administrators must stop you.
If you say this piece of free software is no good because …
you may get countered. Nobody should stop you writing.
@jxself about the talos computers. I have made a pgp
message for you. I will make no answer from
you public. You may make public what I wrote.
There are no offensive words in my
message. My message has no
connection to former quarrels.
