You should not worry that much. :-)

If you really want to avoid any potential problem while removing Compiz, you  
can follow those steps:

Ctrl+Alt+F1 (open a real terminal)
Log in
sudo service gdm stop (stops anything graphical that is running)
sudo apt-get remove compiz (removes Compiz)
sudo service gdm start (start the graphical login manager)
