Hello people,

I'd like to request your help to test the next 136 Abrowser
release, as it will be available for testing over the week,

This release has one key change: DNS over HTTPS (DoH) is now
disabled by default starting with version 136.

This decision is based on the recent Terms of Service (ToS)
update by Mozilla. I'm not a lawyer, but AFAIK, Abrowser is not
subject to those terms, since it is rebranded and recompiled
entirely from source, I believe it’s safer to disable
Mozilla-hosted services by default, including DoH, so there is no
future requirement to Abrowser users to accept some TOS.

That said, there's a trade-off: while DoH can improve security by
encrypting DNS queries, it may also introduce privacy concerns, as
the DoH provider (often a centralized service) can log and track
DNS requests.

Users must decide whether they prefer to trust a centralized
encrypted resolver, or continue using their ISP's DNS (typically
unencrypted). Each choice has some level of privacy and security
implications. However, the use of DoH falls outside the scope of
Abrowser or Trisquel support umbrella, so users should made an
informed choice of what's best for them.

Please note: this change only affects new profiles. If
you're using a new profile and wish to re-enable DoH via Mozilla
by default or at your will any other provider, you can do so via about:preferences#privacy
under "DNS over HTTPS", or manually through about:config.

Additionally, the about:rights page now links to
Trisquel’s legal disclaimer, and other tweaks were made to
strengthen privacy by disabling usage pings and unsolicited remote
connections.

As I've mentioned before you can find this release on the testing
repo:

echo "# Testing updates repository.
deb http://builds.trisquel.org/repos-testing/aramo aramo main" |
sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
wget https://builds.trisquel.org/repos/signkey.asc -O /tmp/key.asc
cat /tmp/key.asc | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/builds-repo-key.gpg >/dev/null

Version 136 has just reached its 4th maintenance release, so the
testing window will likely remain open by next weekend, don't
hesitate to show up at the development meeting (Wednesday, April
2nd) and share your thoughts about it. If you notice anything broken
or unexpected, please don’t hesitate to report it.

Finally, a reminder: Nabia will reach End of Life (EOL) soon. Please
migrate to Aramo at your earliest convenience, as Nabia will no
longer receive security updates after some weeks.

Best regards.
